Hillsborough/Orange Chamber head steps down
The director of the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce announced this week that she would step down from her position – effective immediately.
Margaret Cannell left her position as director today. Her announcement came after a meeting with Board President Jason Richmond.
Cannell’s plans are unknown at this time. She had been with the Chamber for 12 years.
“ … The board has offered her its full support, whether she seeks employment or chooses to take some well-deserved time off,” Richmond said in a press release. “We are appreciative of her years of service to the chamber and wish her well. She will be missed,” said Richmond in a press release about the recent change.
Another Chamber staffer, Cindy Mihok, also left the organization. Mihok served as the assistant to the Chamber.
The chamber board will meet June 17 to devise a plan for hiring a new executive director. Richmond hopes to have the position filled by the beginning of 2015.
Betsy Crittenden will serve as interim-executive director. Her first day is Monday.
