Traffic stop leads to three arrests

Durham police on Monday arrested three people after a traffic stop on Lee Street.

Niesha Shabrial Goodwin, 24, of Oran Avenue in Durham was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance and maintaining a place for controlled substances. She also was cited for a child safety seat violation. She was held in the Durham County Jail under $30,000 bond.

Deon Marquez McArthur, 22, of Thames Avenue in Durham was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a place for controlled substances. He also was cited for lacking insurance on his vehicle and driving with a revoked license. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $85,000 bond.

Naivasha Jadini Price, 19, of Mahala Drive in Durham was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance. She was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $30,000 bond.

  • On Feb. 22, a resident in the 5900 block of Tattersall Drive reported a burglary. Stolen items, worth a total of $3,371, included computer equipment, jewelry, cash and three months of birth control pills.
  • Octavius Amos, 21, of Ridgeway Avenue in Durham was arrested Sunday and charged with disseminating obscene material and possession of a stolen firearm. Durham investigators accused him of posting a lewd photograph on social media, according to police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $26,000 bond.
  • Jeremy Lee Burton, 26, of Guess Road in Durham was arrested Monday and charged with assault with serious bodily injury. Durham investigators allege that Burton stabbed another man during an argument at The House on South Miami Boulevard about 2:20 a.m. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Michael said. Burton was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $75,000 bond.
  • George Seipo Powell, 32, of Chalk Level Road in Durham was arrested Monday and charged with assault by pointing a gun, assault, communicating threats, larceny from the person and common-law robbery. Police accused Powell of kicking, punching and pointing a gun at a man during an attack Feb. 4. The victim was treated for injuries to his shoulder. Powell was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $25,000 bond.
