Downed power lines close MLK in Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill Police responded to a tree that fell and knocked down power lines along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 10 p.m., causing power outages in the immediate area.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was closed due to power lines in the roadway, Chapel Hill police said. Both north and south bound lanes have been blocked to all vehicular traffic from Critz Drive to Piney Mountain Road.
Utility crews are on scene working to restore power, and to remove lines from the roadway.
It is estimated that Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will not be reopened until sometime early tomorrow morning.
