Copa Vida Coffee: The Copa Vida Coffee tea and coffee shop has opened for business at Southpoint Crossing, the shopping center near The Streets at Southpoint at the corner of Fayetteville Road and N.C. 54.

The shop moved from Erwin Terrace on Erwin Road near the Duke University Medical Center to the location at Southpoint Crossing that previously had housed a Starbucks.

The shop is one of several new tenants for the shopping center. There are plans in motion for the center to get a new Arrichion Hot Yoga, a restaurant called Primal Food & Spirits, The Little Gym, and a location of the franchise Banfield Pet Hospital.

LA Fitness plans: Plans have been filed to develop an LA Fitness heath club at 3737 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., which is the former location of the University GM Superstore.

The GM store closed in 2008 during the recession.

The plans for the development project were filed with Durham-City County Planning earlier this month. Attempts to reach the owner of the property and LA Fitness officials weren’t successful by deadline Tuesday.

Papa Nizio’s: A pizza shop called Papa Nizio’s Pizza, Wings and Subs has opened in place of Big Cheese Pizza at 3405 Hillsborough Road, Suite 4-A.

The owner was born in Brazil to Italian parents and has experience working in restaurants in Boston and in Florida, according to the company’s website.

Papa Nizio’s took over for the former Big Cheese Pizza owners Aug. 1, but more recently changed its name. For information, visit www.papanizios.com.
