Second arrest made in Chapel Hill slaying

A second arrest has been made in the May 30 murder on Christopher Road.

Brandon Shamar Townsend, 21, of Varina Drive in Durham, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He was arrested Wednesday morning in Durham by the U.S. Marshall’s Joint Fugitive Task Force.

Police received the initial call about the slaying about 11:54 a.m. at 102 S. Christopher Road. Chapel Hill police officers found Lew Hahn Hood, 33, of Chapel Hill dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

Townsend is in custody at the Orange County Jail and is being held without bond.

Police in May had arrested Bartholomew Romidas Scott of Spring Creed Drive in Durham. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
