Durham man arrested in Chapel Hill shooting
CHAPEL HILL – A man is recovering after being shot on the 100 block of E. Franklin Street early Sunday morning.
Chapel Hill Police arrested Ladarren Deshawn Parker, of N. Guthrie Avenue in Durham, in connection with the shooting. Authorities said they found Parker a short distance from the scene of the shooting.
Officers responded to a call of fighting about 2:40 Sunday morning and when they arrived on scene they found the victim. He was transported to UNC-ER for treatment. His wound did not appear to be life-threatening.
Parker is in custody at the Orange County Jail under charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and resisting arrest. He is being held on a $15,000 secured bond.
The shooting is still under investigation.
In other crime news …
Justin Brooks Sharpe, 31, of South Roxboro Street was arrested on Saturday for second-degree trespassing and resisting arrest. Sharpe allegedly was asked to leave the front porch of a house on the 200 block of West Enterprise Street, but refused to leave. When police arrived on a follow-up call at the same address Sharpe was still there and did not leave. He was arrested and is in jail at the Durham County Jail with a $20,000 bond.
Aaron Marquis Parker, 23, of South Lasalle Street was arrested Saturday on two counts of assaulting a female and one count each of felony probation violation, injury to personal property, injury to real property, misdemeanor larceny and second-degree kidnapping. According to Durham County Court documents, Parker allegedly held a victim against her will and assaulted her. Authorities also believe that he stole the victim’s wallet and cellphone. He is in custody at the Durham Count Jail under a $30,000 bond.
