Echols attracts most money in race for DA

Rogers Echols led his two opponents in total campaign contributions in the race for Durham County District Attorney during the first part of this year, according to reports filed with the N.C. Board of Elections.

Campaign receipts from Jan. 1 to April 19 totaled $26,691, of which $15,891 came from Echols. His largest contributor was Interim Durham County District Attorney Leon Stanback, with $700.
Other donors include:
- Durham attorney Robert Nauseef, $500.
- Restaurant operator Josephine Finazzo, $500.
- Durham attorney Ralph Frasier, $500.
- Thomas D. Kimble, professor at Howard University, $400.
- Amandeep Sandhu, a Durham physician, $500.
- Lawrence Campbell with the Durham County Public Defender’s Office, $500.
- Katherine Shelburne, psychologist with the Durham Public Schools, $250.
- Durham attorney Karen Bethea-Shields, $75.
- State Sen. Floyd McKissick, $200.
- Conrad Pridgen, presiding elder with the Western District AME Church in Whitsett, N.C., $100.
- Charlotte Holmes, administrator with Alamance-Burlington Public Schools, $50.
- Donald Holman of Mebane, pastor at Dickerson Chapel AME Church, $150.
- Sandra Pleasant, owner of Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farms in Roxboro, $50.
Meanwhile, challenger Brian Aus reported contributions of $8,801. Donors include:
