Coats will be given to children from infant up to age 18, and toys will be given to children from infant up to age 10. About 380 children live in the neighborhood, which is located off Lawson Street, said council president Felicia Quinn. She said hundreds of people are expected to come Saturday.
The toy drive has come up 80 toys short, she said Thursday afternoon. Quinn said anyone who can donate toys may call her at 919-641-9962 today to set up a drop-off or pickup time. Or toys may be brought to the McDougald Terrace community center at 1101 E. Lawson St. on Saturday morning, as the resident council officers are setting up for the giveaway. Toys should not be wrapped.
Quinn said they’ll set up a table for girls and boys to pick out toys. Any kind of toys are welcome donations.
“Anything. Kids will appreciate whatever they get,” she said.
