Fire rips through million-dollar Treyburn home
Fire heavily damaged a multi-story house in the upscale Treyburn subdivision in northern Durham late Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
One resident was transported to the hospital. The person’s condition was unavailable Wednesday evening. No firefighters were hurt.
Battalion Chief Teresa Hayes of the Durham Fire Department said trucks from the city and two volunteer departments – Bahama and Lebanon – fought the blaze at 212 Tennwood Court, off Vintage Hill.
Two residents were home when the fire broke out and escaped.
Firefighters got the call at 4:14 p.m. and found flames shooting through the roof.
The house also sustained extensive water damage.
Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi of the Durham Fire Department said the house was on the Treyburn Golf Course near the country club.
His said the residents were displaced, but Red Cross assistance was not requested.
A fire investigator was looking into the fire’s cause Wednesday evening.
