But grassroots activism in the 1970s opened the space for a nationwide conversation, and the Civil Rights Movement can be credited for building a legal foundation that feminist legal theorists expanded upon to fight sexual harassment. One of the pandas at the National Zoo in Washington had some fun in the snow on Saturday, December 9. Mei Xiang frolicked and rolled down the hill as spectators watched. The zoo’s giant pandas are native to the cold climate of China’s western mountains and are more active during the winter month, the zoo said. 52-year-old Desiree Collins is suing the St. Paul Police Department after she was attacked by a K-9 while taking out the garbage in the early hours of September 23. According to a report by Pioneer Press, the dog was accompanied by officers who were searching for two male burglary suspects. The officers ordered the dog to release Collins and tried to activate the K-9’s electronic shock collar, but their efforts only caused the dog to apply more pressure until it was finally physically removed.
