Relay For Life to be June 7-8

DURHAM – Durham County and nearby residents are invited to help the American Cancer Society finish the fight against cancer by participating in Relay For Life, June 7-8 at Jordan High School, 6806 Garrett Rd.

Relay For Life events are held overnight as individuals and teams camp out at an athletic track, park or other gathering area, with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during the event.

Missing person located, OK

DURHAM -- Michael Todd Pollard Jr., reported as missing Wednesday, has been located and is OK, Durham police said Thursday afternoon.

No further details were released.

Police investigators said Wednesday that Pollard, 22,  had last been seen leaving his home around 11 a.m. Sunday to go visit a relative but never arrived at the relative’s home.

Jordan’s’88 class plans reunion

Jordan High School Class of  '88’s  25th reunion is scheduled for July 20.

The event will be at 7 p.m. in The Speakeasy of Tyler's Taproom, 324 Blackwell St., in the American Tobacco Historic District.

Granville Health System plans program

CREEDMOOR – Granville Health system is hosing a dinner and program on

“A Focus on Patient-Centered Care for the Entire Family” June 18 at 5:45 p.m.  at Vance Granville Community College, 1547 South Campus Drive, Creedmoor.

Dr. Christoper Sorrels will speak on expanded pediatrics and integrated family medicine across multiple generations. The meeting will be in South Campus Meeting Room 133.

A free dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m. Dr. Sorrels’ presentation will start at 6 p.m. and will include a question and answer period. The event is free and open to the public.
