Two transported to UNC ER for alcohol overdoses
CHAPEL HILL – Chapel Hill police assisted with two students who consumed “copious amounts of alcohol,” and were transported to the UNC Hospitals Emergency Room for alcohol overdoses over the weekend.
Friday about 1 a.m., someone called 911 for help, and police were dispatched to 229 E. Franklin St., the address of the Lamba Chi Alpha fraternity.
A 20-year-old male UNC-Wilmington student had consumed too much alcohol and was transported by EMS to the emergency room for treatment, said Sgt. Josh Mecimore of the Chapel Hill Police Department.
Saturday about 2:20 a.m., a police officer saw a young man stumbling into the road near the intersection of South Columbia Street and Cameron Avenue, Mecimore said. The officer stopped to check on the man and decided to call for an ambulance to transport the 19-year-old UNC student, who was alone, to the emergency room for treatment, Mecimore said.
