Tractor-trailer fire shuts down I-40
Traffic on Interstate 40 in Durham was shut down Wednesday morning when a tractor-trailer burst into flames, officials said.
No one was hurt.
Firefighters from the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department were called at 7:53 a.m. to I-40 West at the Durham Freeway split and found the truck’s cab in flames.
Firefighters were at the scene for about 90 minutes working to bring the blaze under control.
Parkwood officials said no other vehicles caught fire. They said the cause is being investigated.
The fire backed up westbound traffic on I-40 for about 30 minutes, fire officials said.
