Top-seeded N.C. Central jumped out to an early advantage against Howard and never looked back, rolling to a 92-46 win in quarterfinal round action of the 2014 MEAC Tournament at the Norfolk Scope Arena Wednesday night.

The quarterfinal win lifts NCCU into a 6 p.m. semifinal game against the winner of Thursday's 8 p.m. quarterfinal between No. 4 seed Norfolk State and No. 5 seed Savannah State.

Senior guard Jeremy Ingram scored 30 points as NCCU improved to 26-5. The Eagles must win the MEAC title to advance to the NCAA Tournament, but have already clinched at least an NIT berth by virtue of their regular-season MEAC title.

Also tonight, at the ACC Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum, No. 7 seed N.C. State will play No. 10 Miami at 7.

Some single-session tickets for the N.C. State-Miami game were still available Wednesday night.

N.C. State (19-12, 9-9) enters the tournament having won games at Pittsburgh and vs. Boston College. ACC Player of the Year T.J. Warren scored 41 points in the win at Pitt and followed up with 42 against B.C.

The Wolfpack defeated both Miami and Virginia Tech on the road this season and lost to Miami at home. If the Pack win Thursday, it would meed No. 2 seed Syracuse in Friday’s quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
