Black History Month Events at senior center
DURHAM – The Durham Center for Senior Life (DCSL) is offering a lecture series during February to recognize Black History Month. Every Tuesday in the month, seniors 55 and older are invited to come learn something new or share a memory.
The remaining schedule is:
--Tuesday, Linda Suitt,Africa Travels and Artifacts
-- Feb. 19, Lynn Richardson, Durham City and library history
-- Feb. 26, “Remember When,” seniors are invited to share items from their past.
Each presentation will begin at 11 a.m. in the DCSL Theatre.

Update planned on Smith Level Road improvements
CARRBORO -- The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting Feb. 25 to present plans for improving a section of Smith Level Road in Carrboro. The section slated for improvement is between Rock Haven Road and the bridge over Morgan Creek south of N.C. 54.
NCDOT plans to widen this section to include bike lanes, sidewalks and turn lanes with a center median. In addition, a roundabout is planned for the intersection of Rock Haven Road and Smith Level Road.
The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carrboro Town Hall, 301 W. Main St., Carrboro. NCDOT representatives and the project contractor will be on hand to answer questions about the project and the construction schedule.
