Thieves hit construction site

DURHAM - Burglars hit a construction site in the 700 block of South Roxboro Street Aug. 5 and stole copper tubing, a saw and generator worth $3,022.

In other Durham crime:

- An HP laptop computer worth $1,000 was stolen Saturday from a house in the 3000 block of Pickett Road.

- Jewelry valued at $2,115 was stolen Aug. 5 from a house in the 2100 block of Strebor Street.

- A home burglary Thursday in the 1200 block of Carpenter Fletcher Road netted thieves an Apple laptop computer, Sony flat-screen television and printer worth $1,900.

Woman charged with DWI after wreck

CHAPEL HILL – Police charged Chelsea Kaitlin Schwartz, 24, of 331 South Heritage Loop, C, Chapel Hill, with driving while impaired after she was involved in a car wreck in downtown Chapel Hill.

A police report said the multi-vehicle wreck occurred at 209 E. Franklin St. about 2:40 a.m. Saturday.

Schwartz registered a .13 on a breath test, police said.

Damage to her 2011 Volkswagen Jetta was estimated at $15,000.

Woman charged with prostitution

CARRBORO – Police charged Paula Gayle Hix, 53, with prostitution last Friday night after she allegedly agreed to have sex with an undercover officer for money at 200 Barnes St. in Carrboro.
