The second suspect wanted in in connection with two armed robberies near Sarah P. Duke Gardens is now in custody.

Denshawn S. Thompson, 20, was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Red Roof Inn on North Pointe Drive in Durham by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Violent Fugitive Task Force. He is being held in the Durham County Jail on $3 million bond.

The other suspect, Tamisha Thompson, 20, was arrested on the night of Aug. 1 by Durham police officers after a traffic stop in north Durham.

Both suspects are charged with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and other crimes.

The charges stem from robberies by two individuals near the Lewis Street entrance to the gardens on July 15 and July 25.

Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for administration at Duke, said he appreciates the inter-agency cooperation that led to this arrest.
