DA student earns perfect score on SAT
Durham Academy sophomore Gala Taylor has reportedly earned a perfect sore of 2,400 on the SAT.
The test, the most widely used college admission test, is composed of three 800-point sections that test a student’s knowledge in mathematics, critical thinking and writing.
The College Board, which administers the test, reports that the 2012-2013 national combined average on the SAT was 1498, and North Carolina Seniors graduating in 2013 had an average combined score of 1,479.
Of the nearly 1.7 million students who took the SAT in 2012-2013, less than 0.03 percent, the equivalent of 494, achieved a perfect score.
Taylor achieved a 2,400 by earning an 800 on all three sections of the SAT administered Oct 5.
She is the daughter of John and Diana Taylor of Durham.
