Man arrested in bank robbery

DURHAM – Police arrested a man Monday afternoon and charged him with robbing a Durham bank in December.

The man, Anthony Clark, 49, of Driver Street, was arrested in the 200 block of North Driver Street. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The SunTrust Bank branch at 2714 Erwin Road, near Duke University, was robbed Dec. 17 when a man entered shortly before 9:30 a.m. and demanded money. A gun was seen but no one was injured.

Marshals hold Durham man on robbery charges

DURHAM - Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a Durham man on robbery and burglary charges Monday morning in Greensboro.

Andre Marquis Owens, 22, of Waycross Street, was arrested on charges stemming from a November 2012 armed robbery on Macon Street, and September 2012 burglaries on Fairlawn Road, Vineyard Street and Penzance Avenue.

Owens was charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of felony conspiracy to commit robbery, three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of obtaining property by false pretense, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of injury to property.

Investigators are still looking for one suspect – Vincent Ramone Sowell Jr., 22, of Orient Street – in connection with the robbery on Macon Street. He is wanted on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Wheelchair charger is stolen

DURHAM – A wheelchair charger was stolen Dec. 31 from a house in the 1100 block of Eva Street. Also taken was a flat-screen television, which was recovered.

In other crime:

- Thieves stole a shotgun and other property Wednesday from a house in the 100 block of Elm Tree Court. Also taken were two digital cameras, a 60-inch 3D television, Toshiba laptop computer, silver dollar collection, diamond broach and iPad worth $11,900.

- A shotgun, sneakers, $140 and jewelry, with a total value of $1,840, were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 100 block of East Umstead Street.

- A $2,000 heating and air conditioning unit was reported stolen Wednesday from Roberts Truck & Auto Center on Cheek Road.

- Burglars hit a house Dec. 30 in the 1300 block of Theodore Lane and took six watches, a camera and $100.

- Two televisions and jewelry worth $650 were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 4200 block of South Alston Avenue.
