King holiday events announced
The Durham Community MLK Steering Committee will hold its 2013 King Holiday events in January.
The events are:
-- Youth Rap Forum, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. to 1p.m., Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St., Durham.
-- Youth Awareness Service, motivational speaker Derwin Dubose, public affairs strategist, Jan. 13, 4 p.m., Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St., Durham.
-- Day of Service Event, New Horizons Academy, Jan. 19, 10 a.m. to 1p.m., 916 Lamond Avenue, Durham.
-- 33nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Triangle Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, Jan. 21, 7 a.m., Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham.
-- Unity March and Rally, Jan. 21, 10:30 a.m., beginning at the N.C. Mutual Life Insurance Company, 411 West Chapel Hill St. and concluding at First Presbyterian Church, 305 E. Main St.
-- Annual Religious Service, keynote speaker John Mendez, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, Jan. 21, 6 p.m., St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, 531 S. Roxboro St., Durham.
