Police seeking two in flea market shooting

Durham police investigators have drawn warrants for two men wanted in connection with a double shooting at the Green Flea Market on East Pettigrew Street Sunday afternoon.

A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times, and a 31-year-old man was shot once in the leg when someone pulled a gun during an argument between the 19-year-old and several other young men, police said.

Investigators charged Alexander Cardona, 17, of West Trinity Avenue and Irving Martinez, 17, of Maplewood Drive with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

In addition, police are seeking the two teenagers in connection with an assault and robbery on Hart Street Dec. 4. Warrants have been drawn charging them with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and encouraging participation in criminal street gang activity.

The 19-year-old victim remains hospitalized, but the 31-year-old has been released after treatment of his leg wound.
