Charges filed in racing death

The North Carolina Highway Patrol has pressed charges against three teens in the fatal crash that killed an Orange County teen April 2, according to a release issued by the agency.

Kameron Clevenger, 19, of Stonewall Drive in Mebane, has been charged with pre-arranged speed competition, misdemeanor death by vehicle, careless and reckless driving and misdemeanor child abuse.
McCray Williams, 16, of Payne Road in Graham, has been charged with aiding and abetting pre-arranged speed competition.
Pavel Jones, 18, of South 4th Street in Mebane, has been charged with spontaneous speed competition and careless and reckless driving.
According to highway patrol officers, the crash happened around 3 p.m. on Lebanon Road near Mill Creek Road in Orange County.
Desmond Piccini, 16, of Mebane, and Williams was heading east on Lebanon Road in his 1989 Ford Mustang when he went onto the shoulder of the road. Piccini overcorrected his steering, crossed the center line and drove down the westbound shoulder before hitting a rock wall.
The car turned over and came to a stop on its hood on Lebanon Road.
Piccini was killed. Williams received minor injuries at Duke Hospital before being released.
Speed was considered a factor early in the investigation.
Piccini was a junior at Eastern Alamance High School.
