RDU finalizes retail shops for Terminal 1
Terminal 1, the terminal that’s being renovated at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, will have four new retail stores when it opens again in March 2014.
The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority approved the addition of the four retail concepts at a meeting Thursday, according to a news release. Merchandise at the stores will include women’s clothing, accessories, high-tech gadgets and regional gifts.
Four of the stores will be managed by the Marshall Retail Group, a Las Vegas-based specialty retail firm.
The company will manage two locations of the One Stop store in Terminal 1, as well as the women’s clothing store Marshall-Rousso and Ruby blue, which will sell jewelry, scarves, belts, handbags and other items.
One Stop is part bookstore, newsstand and convenience mart. The Marshall Retail Group is partnering with the Raleigh and Durham convention and visitors bureaus to identify regional vendors that can provide store products.
Construction on the store spaces will begin later this year, and they’re expected to be completed by the terminal’s reopening.
In addition to the Marshall Retail Group stores, Terminal 1 will also be home to the airport’s second TechShowcase.
Like the location in Terminal 2, the store will feature technology-related item, including power cords, international adaptors, chargers and memory cards.
The $68 million Terminal 1 renovation project began last summer. When completed, the terminal is expected to have more natural lighting, a new security checkpoint and new shops and restaurants.
There will be restaurants in the terminal including ACC American Café, La Tapenade Mediterranean Café, Starbucks, Char-Grill and Salsaritas Fresh Cantina.
