Legion auxiliary dinnerFriday night

DURHAM - The American Legion Auxiliary, 406 E. Trinity Ave., Durham, is hosting a supper Friday. The meal includes: meat loaf, baked potatoes, salad, green beans and dessert. The cost is $7 in advance or $8 at the door. 

The money raised will help support Our Veterans, Girl State, Juniors and other activities to help our community.

Fish fry to raise funds for treatment

DURHAM - Next Level Veterans Outreach Campus will sponsor a Fish Fry Fundraiser May 10 from 2:30 to 7 p.m. and May 11 from1 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Country Junction, 4823 Highway 55, Durham.

All proceeds will go to support Next Level's treatment facility.

Final DPS magnet application event Saturday

DURHAM – On Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m., Durham Public Schools hosts a last-chance opportunity for families who want to apply for any remaining seats for the district’s magnet schools.

Parents can register first-come, first-serve at the DPS Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Road, for the chance to attend:

  • Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, grades 9, 10 and 11
  • Hillside New Tech, grade 9
  • Hillside International Baccalaureate, grades 9, 10 and 11
  • Lowe’s Grove School of Technology, grades 7 and 8
  • The School for Creative Studies, grades 7 and 9
