Tobacco shop is robbed

DURHAM - CrimeStoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest or arrests in a Jan. 5 armed robbery at Southside Tobacco, 1111 S. Roxboro St.

Two men entered the store, which sells cigars and other tobacco products, shortly before midnight and robbed the business at gunpoint.

One suspect was described as black, wearing a blue and white plaid coat with a gray hoodie, black pants, black and white shoes, black gloves and a black ski mask. The second suspect was described as black, wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, black and white Nike shoes, a black ski mask and black gloves. He had a black, blue and white backpack.

Dogs stolen from home

DURHAM – Three pit bull terriers were reported stolen Sunday from a home in the 3600 block of Dearborn Drive. Each dog was valued at $300.

It was unclear if the dogs were removed from the homeowner’s yard or from inside the house.

In other crime:

- Cephus Jerrell Stanback, 27, of Marine Avenue, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, child abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stanback was in the Durham County Jail Friday under a $530,000 bond.

- Angel J. Rivera, 32, of West Geer Street, was arrested Monday and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, tattooing a person under the age of 18, driving while license was revoked and injury to real property. Rivers was released Tuesday from the Durham County Jail on a $12,500 bond.
