Durham High Forever reunion deadline Friday
DURHAM – Durham High Forever, the reunion for alumni of Durham High School from 65 or more years ago, will be at noon May 3 at the Durham Hilton, 3800 Hillsborough Road.
The deadline to register is Saturday. The reunion costs $20 per person.
For information, contact Mollie Tompkins at 919-886-1876. Tompkins is the daughter of the late Bobby Lougee, who organized the Durham High Forever reunions for the past eight years.
Event to aid domestic violence victims
DURHAM -- Duke's Phi Delta Theta in conjunction with sponsor Charles Ullman & Associates will host a fundraiser for Fraternites4Family to raise money for victims of domestic violence.
The benefit for Families Living Violence Free will be at Devine's Grill & Sports in Durham Thursday from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The goal is to build awareness about domestic violence and raise funds for victims in need.
Portion of Onslow Street to close
DURHAM -- Beginning May 1, the city’s Public Works Department will close a portion of Onslow Street and its sidewalk at West Markham Avenue to address shallow flooding in the intersection and fix road-shoulder erosion.
Construction is set to begin May 1 and should be finished by May 15, weather permitting. The City’s contractor will provide a detour and signage during construction for motorists and pedestrians. Onslow Street will be accessible to residents from Green Street, and West Markham Avenue will remain open during construction.
The project’s $35,000 cost will be paid for with funds from the Stormwater Capital Improvement Program.
