BIG DAY FOR DUKE

One Duke team, playing in the Midwest, shoots for the Final Four today.

Another group of Blue Devils, playing near the Atlantic Ocean, face a big hurdle to their Final Four dreams.

The No. 6-ranked Duke’s men’s basketball team faces No. 2 Louisville in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional championship game today (5:05 p.m, WRAL) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Blue Devils (30-5), seeded No. 2 in the Midwest, need a win over the top-seeded Cardinals (32-5) to reach their second Final Four in the last four years and their 12th of Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s tenure.

Meanwhile, in Norfolk, Va., the No. 5-ranked Duke women’s basketball team’s NCAA Tournament continues with the Norfolk Regional semifinal against Nebraska.

The last time the Duke women’s basketball program faced a team from the midwest with a 5-9 senior point guard named Lindsay, things didn’t go so well. Lindsay Whalen led Minnesota, a No. 7 seed, to an 82-77 win over the top-seeded Blue Devils in the 2004 regional final at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Va.

The second-seeded Blue Devils face No. 6-seeded Nebraska and 5-9 senior point guard Lindsey Moore today, though this matchup is in the Norfolk Regional semifinals (2:30 p.m., ESPN2). The winner will face the victor of the Notre Dame-Kansas game for the regional title on Tuesday (7 p.m., ESPN).
