A man was shot and seriously wounded Monday afternoon outside an East Durham grocery store, Durham police said.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to a possible disturbance with a weapon call in the parking lot of Los Primos at 1109 E. Main St., police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

A few minutes later, they got a call about a shooting victim in the 600 block of East Main Street.

Michael said investigators determined that the victim was shot during a disturbance in the lot of Los Primos.

The victim - an adult male - was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, she said.

The suspect, described as a black man with a chubby build, was last seen driving south in a red pickup truck.
