Torch Run raises $5,800 for Special Olympics
The Durham Police department participated in the 2014 North Carolina Torch Run Relay Thursday morning.
This year, participants raised $5,800 for the North Carolina Special Olympics prior to running.
The route this year covered 11 miles from the Police headquarters, 505 W. Chapel Hill St. in Durham to Glenwood Avenue at Brier Creek Parkway. where officers were to hand off the torch to Raleigh police officers.
The Durham Police Department has raised $45,000 for the N.C. Special Olympics since 2008.
