The crew from Sacramento Fire Department Engine 20 battles a fire Monday night that consumed two boats that were being stored in a lot behind a chain-link fence on Selma Street. Crews forced entry to the yard to keep the fire contained to the two boats. The fire is suspicious in nature and under investigation, the fire department said.
Nationally, the Sacramento Police Department has the lowest number of sworn officers per capita among police departments protecting cities with similar populations, a Sacramento Bee review of 2016 FBI data shows.
Sacramento Fire Department crews met these heavy fire conditions on Monday, October 2, 2017, at a fire in a vacant home at 47th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in south Sacramento. There were no injuries, and the cause is under investigation.
