Another pizza place is closing on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.
Artisan Pizza Kitchen announced on its Facebook page last week that the pizza restaurant would be closing its doors.
Located at 153 E. Franklin St., the restaurant had been under new ownership since 2015 and was formely known as Artichoke and Basil.
Efforts to reach the owner of the restaurant were unsuccessful.

It’s the second pizza restaurant to close on Franklin Street this year. Earlier this year Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom closed after operating at the 140 West Franklin development for more than three years.
But despite the loss of Old Chicago and Artisan Pizza Kitchen, two more pizza restaurants are set to open on Franklin Street next year. The Pizza Press, a California-based chain, is opening at the Carolina Square development and a Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant called Midici is opening below the Top of the Hill restuarant on the corner of Franklin Street and Columbia Street.
Earlier this year, the pizza restaurant Lotsa Stone Fired Pizza also opened at the Franklin-Columbia intersection.
With the closing of Artisan Pizza Kitchen, there are currently eight pizza makers – from Papa John’s to Mellow Mushroom – open on Franklin Street near UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus.
That number is set to rise to 10 next year.
