AP: McCrory praises passage of DOT funding changes
Gov. Pat McCrory is praising legislative leaders because an overhaul of how transportation dollars get spent in North Carolina is heading to his desk.
The General Assembly gave final approval Wednesday to a new distribution method for transportation funds sought by McCrory that attempts to relieve congested roads more quickly and focus more on economic growth. The final vote was 105-7 in the House.
McCrory is expected to sign the bill into law. He, Senate leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Thom Tillis announced in April their support for proposed changes to the current Highway Trust Fund formula.
McCrory released a video message after Wednesday's final vote. McCrory says the new formula makes sense and will mean more projects and more jobs.
