Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering has received one of its largest gifts ever.

On Tuesday, President Richard H. Brodhead announced that alumni J. Michael and Christine Pearson committed $30 million to the engineering school to advance engineering and science education. Their gift is expected to support interdisciplinary programs, courses and research at Pratt.

It's the sixth largest gift of the university's Duke Forward fundraising campaign and among the top three given to the engineering school.
