UNC shares STEM expansion grant

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of three universities sharing a $7.5 million grant for supporting education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

The HHMI grant was awarded jointly to UNC, the University of Maryland - Baltimore County and Pennsylvania State University to enhance existing programs.

At UNC, the money will help expand and evaluate the Chancellor's Science Scholars program, which was launched in 2013.
