Smith top Girl Scout Cookie seller for Durham

North Carolina Coastal Pines announced Wednesday that Trecia Smith of Girl Scout Troop #21 is the top seller for Durham County for the 2013 Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program.  Smith sold 1,900 boxes of Girl Scout cookies in the annual cookie sale that ended in March. 

Jazmine Warren of Girl Scout Troop #870 placed second with 1,471 boxes sold and Leah Wuebbens of Girl Scout #1740 placed third with 1,116 boxes sold. The overall top cookie seller was Hailey Wells of Girl Scout Troop #223 from Wayne County who sold 3,100 boxes of cookies.

Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines sold over 3 million boxes of cookies with about 13,000 Girl Scouts participating in the 2013 Cookie Sale Program.  About 1,700 girls sold more than 400 boxes of cookies each.  Additionally, 259 girls sold more than 1,000 boxes each.  Council-wide the average number of boxes sold per girl was 225.  Nationally the average number of boxes sold by Girl Scouts is 135.
