‘Fill that bus’ to begin July 1

Jun. 15, 2013 @ 10:17 PM

You can help make sure that children in Durham Public Schools have the supplies they need by joining over 100 organizations hosting bins for the 2013 “Fill that Bus!” campaign.  If you know a business, employer, or organization willing to host a bin, you can contact Joyce McKinney at jcmckinn@gmail.com.

The Durham Rotary clubs’ “Fill that Bus!” supplies drive will run from July 1 to Aug. 3.  Businesses and organizations throughout Durham will place collection bins in their facilities for employees and customers to donate school supplies. On Aug. 3 (tax free weekend) a school bus will be in the Office Depot/Sam’s Club parking lot on Shannon Road.  Rotarians will be at the bus to collect supplies.

In 2011, $5,500 in school supplies was donated to Crayons2Calculators.  Last year, over $30,000 in supplies were collected and the goal for 2013 is $50,000.
