Police investigating overnight shooting

DURHAM — One person was shot early this morning during a home invasion on Washington Street.

Police said about 1:30 this morning two men broke into a house on the 900 block of Washington Street and shot an individual inside. The individual was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The case is still under investigation. No suspects have been identified.


Motorcyclist in stable condition

DURHAM — The driver of a motorcycle was in stable condition Saturday after he hit a utility pole near the intersection of South Roxboro and Erie streets about 2 a.m.

Police said the driver was traveling south on Roxboro Road when his motorcycle went into a ditch and hit the pole.

Traffic investigators are still investigating the cause of the crash.


Arrest made in Chapel Hill slaying

CHAPEL HILL — Chapel Hill Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting death Friday afternoon on Christopher Road.

Bartholomew Scott, 35, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot an individual multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has yet to be released by authorities. The victim did not live at the Christopher Road home.

Scott is in custody at the Orange County Jail without bond.


In other crime news …

— Terry Coleman was arrested Friday, just three days after Durham police announced he was wanted in connection with an armed robbery on May 24.

Coleman was in custody at the Durham County Jail Saturday in lieu of $250,000 bond.

— Carlos Roberto Martinez, 26 of Garrett Road, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon after police say he stabbed a person in the back. He was being held at the Durham County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
