Job openings in IT down year-over-year in May
North Carolina’s total estimated job openings in the information technology sector were down about 16 percent in May compared to the same month last year.
That’s according to the N.C. Technology Association’s “IT Workforce Market Analysis and Job Trends Report,” sponsored by The Select Group.
Although the report said there was a year-over-year decline in estimated openings, the total number of openings, at 4,280 in the month, was up 8 percent compared with April.
May was the fifth consecutive month that showed a gain in job openings compared to the prior month in the sector, according to the report.
The report cited the consecutive month-to-month increases as an indication that employers remain optimistic for the year.
However, the growth trend is expected to level off in June as the nearing summer typically brings less change.
