ERUUF makes nonprofit donations, offers ethic class

DURHAM -- The Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has donated $7,441 to three nonprofit agencies working to decrease violence and to improve services for the disabled and Hispanics.
Alliances of Disability Advocates-Center for Independent Living, which helps people with disabilities to live independently and become productive full participants in society, received $1,649. El Futuro, which provides bilingual and culturally informed behavioral health treatment for underserved Spanish-speaking individuals and families, received $3,784. The Religious Coalition for Nonviolent Durham, whose mission is to prevent and rectify the injustice of violence, received $2,008. Donations were collected during ERUUF’s three recent Generosity Sunday collections. Summer services are held at 10:30 a.m. Sundays at 4907 Garrett Road in Durham.
Also, ERUUF is offering four classes this summer about applying practical ethics in public controversies. The sessions are free and open to the public.
Ross McKinney, director of the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities and History of Medicine at Duke, will facilitate classes on issues including the current political divide, health care rationing and immigration. The classes will be from 11:50 a.m.to12:50 p.m., July 13, 20, 27 and Aug. 3 in rooms 4/5 of the CARE Building. For information, visit www.eruuf.org.

Youth revival at North East Baptist
DURHAM -- North East Baptist Church will host a Youth Revival at 7 p.m. nightly July 16-17 at 3204 NC 55. Evangelist Sammy Rodriguez of Sammy Rodriguez Ministries in Clayton will be the messenger. The public is invited. For information, call 919-544-2142.

Guest preachers this month at University Presbyterian
CHAPEL HILL -- University Presbyterian Church at 209 E. Franklin St., will host two guest preachers this month. The Rev. Theodore E. Churn will preach July 20 and the Rev. Julio Ramirez-Eve will preach July 27. Worship services are held at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sundays.
Churn is New Hope Presbytery’s interim executive Presbyter/stated clerk. Ramirez-Eve is pastor of Iglesia Emanuel Hispanic Presbyterian Church in Durham and associate for Hispanic Ministries for New Hope Presbytery. For more information, visit www.upcch.org.

Day camp at Christus Victor Lutheran
DURHAM -- Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1615 E. NC 54, Durham, is hosting a summer day camp from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays July 7 - July 30 for children 4 and up. Activities include art, games, crafts and songs. The day camp is free. For information, call 919-544-7195.
