Spring highlights at DPAC, PlayMakers
The Broadway season at the Durham Performing Arts Center includes several more shows this spring, making the second half of the 2012-13 the busiest.
After “Jekyll & Hyde” comes the sure-to-please “Mary Poppins” Feb. 12-17, followed by Cole Porter’s sea-set “Anything Goes” March 19-24, the colorful “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert” April 30-May 5 and rousing “Sister Act” May 14-19.
Other highlights of the DPAC stage this spring include “Lord of the Dance” on March 10 and the returns of Jerry Seinfeld on Feb. 2 and Celtic Woman on April 27.
Legendary bluesman B.B. King, who was the first concert to open DPAC four years ago, will perform again on April 21 with special guest Robert Cray. For a full schedule and ticket information, visit www.dpacnc.com.
Elsewhere in theater, PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill will present a rotating repertory of Lorraine Hansbury’s 1959 drama about an African-American family, “A Raisin in the Sun,” and the follow up by Bruce Norris, “Clybourne Park.” Both plays will be performed Jan. 26-March 3 at the Paul Green Theatre in the UNC Center for Dramatic Art. In April, PlayMakers will present “Cabaret.”
