Leplin, Widder tapped for CHCCS post

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education recently approved hiring Sherron Leplin, Ph.D., as the district’s executive director of exceptional children and Tony Widder as interim assistant principal at Scroggs Elementary.

Leplin will be leaving her post as principal at the UNC Hospital School for her new position. She was previously a principal in Durham Public Schools and Orange County Schools, an exceptional children’s coordinator and assistant principal with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, and a counselor, coordinator and teacher with Guilford County Schools.

The board also approved making Tony Widder as interim assistant principal at Scroggs Elementary. Widder has been at Scroggs for the past year as an administrative intern.

Before his time with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Widder was a math teacher for seven years at Reedy Creek Middle School in Wake County.
