Hope Valley Elementary goes international
Feb. 10, 2014 @ 11:39 AM
Hope Valley Elementary recently hosted an international night for the school's families. Families and community members came and shared their cultures with our students and over 200 people joined us for this evening. It began with a performance by our chorus in the gym followed by a time to view many different cultural displays. The culinary arts department from Northern High School prepared international foods such as fried rice, potato pancakes, and crepes. Displays and activities were exhibited by families and community members representing places like Kazakstan, Nepal, Germany, Latin America and China. The art room featured a station for making origami. Art representing people from around the world was on display. Food including Chinese dumplings, Irish soda bread, tamales, and Yak cheese was available to sample. A foreign exchange student from France, living with school board member Nancy Cox, joined the celebration, as well. Hope Valley students did a live interview via Skype with children living in China. The school's desire was to use this night to bring together its families and put on display the uniqueness of each member of the Hope Valley Elementary community.
