Update on downtown Whetstone Apartments: Grubb Properties has been hired to do the leasing for a new downtown apartment project, Whetsone Apartments.
Construction has begun on the apartments, and Grubb has now been hired to handle leasing under an agreement with Armada Hoffler Properties, the owner and developer of the apartments.
Attempts to reach Armada Hoffler officials for an update on the project’s construction were unsuccessful Monday.
Earlier this year, Durham-based Greenfire Development sold property at Jackson and Willard streets to a limited liability company connected to Virginia Beach, Va.-based Armada Hoffler. The location is near the N.C. Mutual Life Insurance Co. headquarters building.
In October, Armada Hoffler closed on an $18.5 million loan to fund the development.
