Choirs celebrate anniversary at Mt. Calvary UCC
DURHAM -- Mount Calvary United Church of Christ’s Youth and Young Adult Choir will celebrate their 45th choir anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1715 Athens Ave. The community is invited. Choir president is Nisha Watson, and Cheryl McNair is the lead youth adviser.
Also, The Versatile Crusaders Choir of Mount Calvary United Church of Christ will celebrate its 38th anniversary at 4 p.m. July 27 at the church. Burnice Parker is choir president.

New senior pastor at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist
DURHAM -- Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church has named the Rev. Sherman R. Tribble of Nashville, Tennessee, as its senior pastor. He is the 14th pastor of the 143-year-old church at 5222 Mt. Sinai Road.
Tribble is a graduate of Fisk University, received his master of divinity from Howard University and his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He is an author and musician.
The celebration and installation begins Monday with three nights of pre-installation revival at the church. Guest preachers are the Rev. Sir Walter L. Mack Jr. of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem in Monday; the Rev. Fredrick A. Davis of First Calvary MBC of Durham on Tuesday; and the Rev. Harry L. White of Watts Chapel MBC of Raleigh on June 25.
On June 28, there will be a pre-installation luncheon at the Hilton Hotel with guest speaker Rev. Joseph T.T.
Tribble, minister of youth at 15th Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville. Tickets to the luncheon are $25 and may be purchased by calling the church office at 919-489-3989 by Sunday. The Rev. L.K. Curry, pastor emeritus of Emmanuel Baptist in Chicago, Illinois, preach at the 11 a.m. service June 29. The service of installation will be held at 3 p.m. June 29, with the Rev. Larry E. Covington of Ebenezer UCC of Burlington in charge.  Dinner will be served after the service.

Spiritual series at Unity Center of Peace
CHAPEL HILL – Unity Center of Peace, an interfaith and New Thought spiritual community, begins a new 10-week series at 11 a.m. Sunday called “The Ten Keys to Successful Living.” The series is based on “The Ten Challenges” by Leonard Felder and will include topics like “realizing a fulfilling and rewarding career, satisfying relationships or experiencing inner peace and a solid connection with the Divine.”
The Rev. Rosemary Hyde and the Rev. Victoria Loveland-Coen will explore a challenge and key each Sunday. There will be conference calls following each session at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. New president of Hosanna Bible College
DURHAM – Hosanna Bible College in Durham has a new president and CEO, John T. Chapman. Chapman, a graduate of Duke Divinity School, has begun the process of accreditation for Hosanna Bible College, which has 40 new faculty and staff and will offer classes this fall.
HBC was founded in 1992 by Pastor Donald Q. Fozard and Elder Nora L. Fozard of Mt. Zion Christian Church.

‘Jesus Connection’ VBS at Russell Memorial C.M.E.

‘Jesus Said’ sermon series at University Presbyterian
CHAPEL HILL -- University Presbyterian Church, 209 E. Franklin St., will hold a special summer sermon series, “Jesus Said,” preached by associate pastor the Rev. Anna Pinckney Straight. Worship services are held at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sundays.
The series will be held through Aug. 17, except for guest preachers on July 20 and July 27. The sermon series will explore some of the things Jesus said, and ask questions about belief in Jesus as the word made flesh, the peacemaker, the rabble rouser, the Son of God, the servant and Christ the savior.
