Women’s Day Sunday at Fisher Memorial UHC
DURHAM -- Fisher Memorial United Holy Church will celebrate Women’s Day during the 11 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 420 E. Piedmont Ave.
The theme is “A Wise Woman: She Buildeth Her House.”  The speaker is the Rev. Yvonne Beasley, an associate pastor of West Street Christian Church and music minister for St. Peter’s A.M.E. Zion Church in New Bern.
Women’s Day at Fisher Memorial is also known as Pink Hat Sunday. Bishop Elroy Lewis is pastor.

Habitat, Housing for New Hope benefit concert 
DURHAM – A concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Durham and Housing for New Hope, “There’s No Place Like Home,” will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. June 1 at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, 504 W. Chapel Hill St. Performers include Lois Deloatch, Terry Allebaugh, Mel Williams, Cyril Murphy and the United Voices of Praise gospel choir. Donations will be accepted at the door. A reception will follow the concert.

London choir, former Duke Chapel dean visit to support RCND
DURHAM – There will be a summer concert by the Choir from St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London at 3 p.m. June 8 at Lyon Park Community Center, in honor of Durham’s peacemaking efforts.
The center is at 1313 Halley St., and donations will support the Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham.
The Ready Singers from Orange Correctional Center and Antioch Baptist Church Choir will also perform.
The Rev. Samuel Wells, vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields and former dean of Duke Chapel, will give a reflection on nonviolence. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. The concert is free. The Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields’ stop in Durham is part of its U.S. summer tour. For information, visit nonviolentdurham.org.

Saturday night ‘Praise and Pizza’ at Advent Lutheran
CHAPEL HILL -- Advent Lutheran Church will be hosting “Saturday Night Praise and Pizza” from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 230 Erwin Road in Chapel Hill. The theme is “Easter: The Resurrection and what it means to Christians.”

Women’s Day, revival at Mt. Calvary Missionary
BAHAMA -- Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church will observe Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 8021 Stagville Road in Bahama.
The guest speaker will be Min. Amorita Pickering, associate minister at First Calvary Baptist Church in Durham.
Also, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist’s annual revival will be held at 7 p.m. nightly May 28-30. The revivalist on May 28 will be the Rev. Larry McElroy Sr., pastor of Pinegrove Missionary Baptist Church in Creedmoor. On May 29, the revivalist will be the Rev. W.L. Richardson, pastor of New Hope Person Baptist Church in Timberlake; and on May 30, the revivalist will be the Rev. Robert L. Daniels, senior pastor of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Durham. Church choirs will accompany pastors.

Parent sessions for Mt. Vernon summer camp
DURHAM – Mount Vernon Baptist Church will hold summer camp parent information and registration sessions at 6 p.m. May 30 and 11 a.m. May 31 in the church’s education building, 1007 S. Roxboro St. The session will provide information on policies and procedures, K-8 curriculum and enrichment activities ranging from arts and crafts, swimming, movies, cooking class, wood carving, drawing and organized basketball.
