National Night Out at Russell Memorial
DURHAM – Russell Memorial CME Church will observe National Night Out from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 703 S. Alston Ave. There will be gospel music, food, informational speakers and a representative from the Durham Fire Department. The community is invited. The Rev. Wayne A. Williams is pastor.

Jubilee Week at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist
DURHAM -- The music ministry of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 S. Alston Ave., will present Jubilee Week from Aug. 6-10.
The schedule of events:
Aug. 6-8: The guest preachers for a mini-revival are the Rev. Derrick Clemons of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church in Statesville on Aug. 6, the Rev. James Smith of Ebenezer AME Zion in Apex on Aug. 7 and the Rev. Lamonte Williams of Diggs Memorial United Holy Church in Winston-Salem on Aug. 8. Services start each night at 7 p.m.
Aug. 9: Fun  Day on the Lawn, with food and games on the church lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Aug. 10: Musical Explosion concert featuring choirs from the community at 3 p.m.

Mighty Royallettes anniversary concert this weekend
DURHAM – A celebration the 50th anniversary of The Mighty Royallettes will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday at True Way Holy Church, 4124 Fayetteville St.
The concert will feature Tony and the Magnificent Voices of Durham, The Discipleaires of Danville, Virginia, Triangle Starlights of Raleigh, Spirits of Joy of Chatham, Virginia, New Voices of Faith of Mocksville, Anthony McCrae of Durham, Thelma Bass & the Faithfulaires of Durham, Family Gospel Singers of Durham, The Mighty Tenernears of Burlington, The Mighty Golden Bells of Raleigh, Mattie Alston & the Voices of Praise of Greensboro, Bishop Robert Jones & Miracle Temple Gospel Choir of Durham, Sons of Zion of Greensboro, United Voices of Bell-Yeager Choir of Durham, Goldenairs of Haw River and many others. Yates Baptist to recognize child-care faculty
DURHAM -- Yates Baptist Church will hold a commissioning address for the faculty of Yates Child Development Center during the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday at the church, 2819 Chapel Hill Road.
Yates CDC has been operated for 48 years, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has a five-star license from the N.C. Division of Child Development and Early Education.
During the church services, faculty will be pinned with a pendant displaying the center’s achievements. The guest speaker is Julie Carrow, parent of three children who graduated from Yates CDC. The 2014 Teacher of the Year is Jordan Savage, recognized for his work toward problem-solving with children, adapting lessons so each child excels, and positive team-building. Terrell’s Creek Missionary Baptist Homecoming
CHAPEL HILL -- Terrell’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming on Sunday at the church, 3419 Old Greensboro Road.
The afternoon of “God’s Word, singing, fellowship and food” begins after the 11 a.m. worship service. Dinner will be served from 1:15-2:45 p.m., followed by the Homecoming service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Homecoming guest speaker will be the Rev. Ernest McCowan, pastor of Second Baptist Church of Chapel Hill, accompanied by his church choir.

Reverend to be honored Saturday
DURHAM -- The Celebration and Praise Group of Durham will present the 45th Ministerial Anniversary Celebration honoring the  Rev. Lawrence R. Turner Jr. at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillside High School, 3727 Fayetteville St.
The guest speaker will be Bishop Kenneth Monroe, presiding bishop of the AME Zion Church. Musical guests will include Seed Time and Harvest Choir of Durham, Holland Chapel AME Zion Church Choir of Apex, Hatcher Chapel AME Zion Church Choir of Parkton, and other music ministries.  Special musical guest will be Pastor Luther Barnes of Rocky Mount.

Gospel event Friday
DURHAM -- Faith Based Service Network will present “The Power of Forgiveness Gospel Event” featuring gospel recording artist Artie Parks and others, at 7 p.m. Friday at Northside Baptist Church, 1239 Berkeley St. It is about victim and offender reconciliation.
