Writers to become booksellers
Local authors (and the archivist of the United States) will be Booksellers for a Day at The Regulator Bookshop on Saturday. Ten local authors will become booksellers for a day to help customers pick out books at Durham’s Regulator Bookshop, in observance of Small Business Saturday and the first day of Shop Independent Durham Week.
Guest booksellers will include bestselling “Predictably Irrational” author Dan Ariely and bestselling young adult author Sarah Dessen. They will be joined by David Cecelski, Lora Florand, Katy Munger, Tim Tyson, Jim Wise, and children’s authors Stephanie Greene and J.J. Johnson.
Former Duke head librarian David Ferrio, archivist of the United States, also will help sell books.
The Regulator’s guest booksellers will be working two-hour shifts throughout the day, beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 9 p.m. A complete schedule will be available on the bookstore’s web site, www.regulatorbookshop.com
The Regulator will be having a sale on dozens of its most “giftable” books, and customers can sign up for a chance to win a new facsimile edition of John James Audubon’s “Birds of America,” which normally sells for $350.
