Mar. 14, 2008 UNC Women Win 4th Consecutive ACC Hoops Title North Carolina beat archrival Duke 86-73 to win their 4th consecutive ACC Women's Basketball Championship. The tournament was held at the Greensboro Coliseum. North Carolina's Erlana Larkins took the tournament MVP honors. Mar. 09, 2008 North Carolina beats Duke 76-68 at Cameron Indoor Stadium The North Carolina Tar Heels knocked off Duke, 76-68, to finish the regular season on top of the ACC. Mar. 08, 2008 Duke, North Carolina advance through Womens ACC Semifinals The Duke Blue Devils beat Maryland 74-63, while the North Carolina Tar Heels knocked off Virginia 80-65, at the Greensboro Coliseum during the 2008 Women's ACC Basketball Tournament in the semifinals. Duke will face North Carolina in the finals on Sunday. Mar. 08, 2008 Eve Carson, 1985-2008 UNC Student Body President Eve Marie Carson was indentified as the victim of Wednesday's homicide in a residential neighborhood in Chapel Hill. The revelation of Carson's death was shocking. Thousands gathered on Polk Place less than three hours after the announcement to mourn the loss of one of Carolina's most beloved and active students. Carson died at age 22 of multiple gunshot wounds. UNC's Tyler Hansbrough put on another dominant performance scoring 29 points and recorded four steals to squash any chance of an upset. Feb. 24, 2008 Duke 86, St. Johns 56 Duke hosted St. John's at Cameron Indoor Stadium for a late season, non-conference men's basketball showdown. The Blue Devils prevailed 86-56 over the Red Storm. Kyle Singler was the high scorer for Duke with 16 points. Feb. 23, 2008 Githens Middle School Dance Marathon Students from Githens collected $1526.76 to give to the NC Children's Hospital through a dance marathon on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008. During the dance, students had to stand on their feet for six hours. They could dance, make crafts, play sports and video games, and make cards for the children at the hospital, during the event.
