DURHAM -- Church is dull and boring. Most Christians aren’t very effective. Jesus does not like things the way they are. The Rev. Peter Gomes usually shares his opinion through his books or at Harvard University, where the American Baptist minister is a pastor at Harvard’s Memorial Church and is also the university’s Plummer Professor of Christian Morals.
