Duke opens private diagnostic clinic
Sep. 14, 2013 @ 08:42 AM

On September 15, 1931, Duke opened the first major outpatient clinic in the region.

The clinic provided medical and surgical care to private patients and was designed to coordinate the diagnostic studies and to give better care for the complicated problems arising in the examination of private patients.

It also allowed Duke's faculty to contribute a portion of their salary to continue the excellence of Duke's medical practices.
